Planting Seeds: Methuselah Foundation Integral in Building Initiatives
Your support continues to make progress in the fight against aging possible. The $3.8 million Mprize Fund is a proof of that. Your donations have made several other advances possible.
Dave Gobel, CEO and Founder, is continually on the lookout for other organizations to support as they seek to learn, create and produce products that lead to understanding and increasing longevity.
Dave kicked off Methuselah Foundation Undergraduate Research Initiative (now SENSFAI-U, the undergraduate component of SENS Foundation's Academic Initiative). SENS Foundation itself spun off from Methuselah last year.
Dave was also instrumental in development of The Supercentenarian Research Foundation where he is a member of the Organizing Committee. Exploring research related to the health and longevity of those who live 110 years or greater, they have discovered, based on autopsies, that supers aren't dying from cancer, heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's. Most die from a condition extremely rare among younger people, called senile cardiac TTR Amyloidosis.
Methuselah Foundation has helped Halcyon Molecular with a bridge loan and got them the attention of venture capital which brought significant funding and serious management. Halcyon is developing high throughput, low-cost DNA sequencing.
Methuselah Foundation takes its role as a catalyst very seriously. We will continue to seek out promising work and support worthwhile efforts with your help.
